A Nostalgic Journey Through Time

From Radio South to Volksradio

The idea for Volksradio arose from presenter Bart Pepermans ‘ passion for Dutch-language music. Ever since his youth, he has been fascinated by the sound of Flemish and Dutch artists. “I started as an 18-year-old at Radio Zuid, where we played Flemish music at a time when that wasn’t really covered on national radio,” says Pepermans. With Volksradio, he returns to his roots and brings listeners a unique mix of classics and new hits.

An extensive music archive

Thanks to Bart Pepermans’ extensive music collection, listeners can enjoy a variety of Dutch-language music. From the golden oldies from the 60s and 70s to the most recent releases, on Volksradio there is something for everyone.

More than just music

News and programs

In addition to music, Volksradio will also carry news. Listeners can count on the latest local news from Mechelen and the region, which can be heard alternately on the even or odd hours. International news can be heard on the half hour. Volksradio’s program is interspersed with fascinating thematic programs. For example, there are plans for special Christmas and Carnival programs, dialect programs and programs with well-known Mechelenians.
